Trauma is a universal human experience, unique to each of us depending on our lived experience and how many marginalized identities we hold. A lasting emotional response from a distressing experience, trauma may show up as sadness, anger, denial, fear, shame, rage, grief or something we don't quite understand yet. It can be heavy, and get trapped in our bodies, manifesting in how we show up in the world each day.
This meditation reminds us to honor and accept all parts of ourselves—even the dark, destructive, and undesirable. it reminds us to create a safe space for ourselves to feel, process, and release our emotions, giving ourselves the chance to break free from cycles of suffering.
Letting go allows us to be fully open to the magic of new cycles and more conscious ways of being where we are able to stay fully present, embodied, and loving toward ourselves and those around us.
